Obituary of Doris Marie Sullivan
It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Marie “Dee” Sullivan, age 69, of Herring Cove announces her passing on Friday, March 3, 2023. She was a daughter of the late Blair and Donna (Power) Sullivan.
Doris served 39 years in the Canadian Forces with pride and honour retiring as Sergeant in 2012. She was posted all over Canada during her military career from Gagetown, NB to Comox, BC, several bases in Ontario and Washington, D.C. while spending the last few years in Shearwater, NS. Doris was awarded the UN Medal for Service with the United Nations Protection Force (UNPROFOR) for her Service in the Bosnian War in 1995.
She was known as “Dee” to her friends and she had many!
Doris loved to travel and spending time with her family (relatives and military) and friends. She always had a soft spot for animals of all kinds (she may have preferred them to some people!). Doris was an avid photographer. No one can remember a meal that was not caught on film.
Doris leaves behind her brothers, Bernard (Frances), Barry (Sandi) and sister, Pamela (Philip); nephews Robert, Blair; nieces Cassandra (Cassie), Kelly, Jacqueline and Emily and several grandnieces/nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, Blair and Donna Sullivan; brother David.
Special Thanks to the nurses and staff at the Halifax Infirmary that looked after her.
Please join the family for a celebration of life 2 pm, Saturday, March 11, 2023 at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS. B3P 1K6.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Q.E.II Hospital Foundation or to Canadian Liver Foundation in support of Wilson’s Disease would be appreciated.
See you on the other side of the mountain!
