A few years ago my family reconnected with Dee all due to this picture of Dee, Bob & Patti (my sister) from long ago. Shortly thereafter I ended up with breast cancer and while I was in the hospital after my mastectomy, Dee came to visit me. She brought me a huge grocery bag full of food, puzzle books and things to keep me occupied while I recovered. At the same time, she visited me, my sister arrived and there just wasn't enough hugs to go around. The Dee in this picture is the one I will remember - so full of life, love and happiness. Rest in peace my friend.

I am so sorry to hear about Dee's passing. Dee and I were roommates when we were posted in Gagetown. We had a great time including learning to highland dancing with the Black Watch band. When Dee was living in Washington, I had a wonderful visit with her. A few years ago Dee and her poodle visited us for a few days. Many special memories. Unfortunately, we lost contact over the years, My heart goes out to Dee's family. RIP Dee

So very sad to learn of Dee’s passing. We met over 30 years ago in Trenton, and reconnected many times over the years at our various postings. Dee was one of those people who was always there, and we would easily pick up conversations where we left off from the last time, despite there being sometimes years between. Rest easy, dear girl, you will be greatly missed.

One of the earliest memories I have is when Doris and my Uncle Dave took me to the park when I was about 3 years old. Uncle Dave pushed me on the swing-set and I vividly remember Doris making me giggle as she pretended to grab my feet as I swung towards her. Many years later, Doris attended my wedding and stayed at my house for a few days. She hid all our cutlery around the house and short sheeted our bed – again, making me giggle!! Doris was fun and silly, light-hearted and incredibly loving. Her warm smile and the sound of her laugh will never be forgotten.

I was honoured to have Doris as a friend for 53 years. She was a kind, caring, giving person, always ready to help anyone. She never spoke of her acts of kindness but I personally know of many instances when she visited and helped my parents and my cousin in Halifax. She has left her loved ones here and is now with her loved ones "on the other side of the mountain". Rest in peace, dear friend. Love always, Joan (Edwards) Last, Ottawa

I was so fortunate to have Doris for my Godmother. She loved fiercely with great compassion. She was endlessly supportive of my son and I, she buoyed many others and could always be found in the corner of the underdog. She was pure of heart and generous to a fault. I'm blessed to have her spirit beside me. My sincere condolences to all her other family and friends.
