Obituary of Luke Donald Brackett
BRACKETT, Luke Donald: 29, Duncan’s Cove, NS. It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Luke, announce his unexpected passing on June 18, 2018. Luke was born in Halifax on December 11, 1988, where he lived his life. He is a graduate of JL Ilsley High School and was a plumber by trade, having completed course with NSCC. As a kid, Luke loved to swim and be at the cottage. As he got older, Luke was known for being music crazy, always sporting his expensive headphones. He was always in his trendy clothing and “bling”, and proudly displayed his many loved tattoos and precious ball caps with pride. Many will remember him for his hustling, but most will remember Luke for his little grin, and his exceptionally kind, soft, and gentle demeanour, as well as for being very approachable. His undeniable loyalty to his family and friends was the most important thing to Luke. Knowing this, you knew he “always had your back”. He was a comedian at heart, just waiting to play his next practical joke or use his one-line witty sense of humour to make you laugh. Luke had a soft heart and loved all animals.
Luke is survived by his mother, Sheila Burke and his father, Mark Brackett (Lynn), his girlfriend and love of his life, Brittany Swinimer, aunts and uncle, Kathryn Burke (Natalie Flam), Karen Burke (Dean Samson), and Ken Burke (Christine Burke), his cousins, Christopher, Kathleen and Jeffrey Hollett, aunts and uncle, Janet Sammon (Martin), Susan Omstead, and April Lymburner, and Richard Brackett (MaryJane), his cousins, Lisa, Christopher, Jodie, Rob, Wendy, Lori Shirley, Margaret and Skylar. Besides Brittany, Luke is survived by many friends, especially, Joe D., Randy and Sam, Nick, Dylan, Joe M., and Cyril.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Edgar Burke and Joyce Burke, his paternal grandparents, Donald and Margaret Brackett, and his uncle, Larry Brackett.
