Obituary of Thomas Whittle
WHITTLE, Thomas James 88, Halifax. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father. Born in Harbour Breton, N.L. on February 27, 1921, to the late Edward and Elizabeth Whittle. Thomas will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and a great story teller. He was a fisherman all of his life and during the war he served with the Merchant Marines. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by sons, Thomas (Claire), Ralph; daughters, Geraldine (Bernie) MacDonald; Gladys (Ken) Christopher; grandchildren, John, Helena, Judy, Bernie, Charlene, Lee Ann, Deanie, Nancy, Michael, Cynthia and Evan; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, John, Newfoundland; David (Jessie), Lower Sackville; sisters, Marjorie, Martha, Mary Ellen and Gertrude, all of Newfoundland; extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by the love of his life, wife, Helena (Farrell); granddaughter, Karen Christopher; great-granddaughter, Jocelyn; daughters-in-law, Cheryl Stoddard and Cathy MacLeod; brothers, Peter and Reginald. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield, (477-5601) where visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday, February 25, at 1 p.m. from the funeral home chapel, with interment to follow in Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
