Obituary of Gordon Brooks

BROOKS, Gordon James — 80, Harrietsfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 22, 2010 in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brooks. Gordon worked for the Department of Highways for many years until his retirement. He is survived by daughters, Virginia (Wayne) Brine; Brenda (Ron) Power; Heather (Craig) Findley; companion, Alice Callahan; grandchildren, Andrew and Timothy Brine, Matthew and Jennifer Power; Michael and Amanda Findley; great grandchildren, Brianna, Haylee, Branden, Zack and R.J.; sister, Josephine (Harry) Keating; brother, Frank Brooks. He was predeceased by wife Virginia; brother, William. Cremation has taken place under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, (477-5601). In keeping with Gordon's wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 26 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel, interment to take place at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Diabetes Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
