Obituary of Raymond "Bud" Palmer
87, Halifax, passed away Wednesday December 9, 2009, in the Halifax Infirmary QEII. Born in Halifax and growing up in Windsor, he was a son of the late Clifford and Elsie (Pynn) Palmer. In 1941 he joined the navy and remained for the duration of the Second World War, he then took a drafting course and worked at the Halifax dock yard until his retirement in 1981. Bud was a member of the Y's Men's Club and their Christmas tree lot, St Paul's United Church, Spryfield and their Men's Club. He was an ardent fishermen, loved camping with his family, loved music and always had the radio playing. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. Bud is survived by his wife of 53 years, Amy (Brown); son, Charles (Bernadette), Waverly; daughters, Linda (Andrew) McDonough, Harrietsfield; Mary (Terry) Burningham, Georgetown Ont.; brothers, Fred: Windsor; Clifford "Kip" (Audrey), Douglas (Claire), both of Montreal Que.; sisters, Inez (Harry) Roberts, Halifax; grandchildren, Amanda, Ryan, Leah, Deanna, and Jeff. Cremation has taken place under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) 149 Herring Cove Rd. (477-5601) where visitation will be held Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in St. Paul's United Church, Spryfield on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeannie Manning-Stright officiating where reception will follow. Interment to take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
