Obituary of Everett "Tom" Logan
LOGAN, Everett Dalbert "Tom" 93, Halifax, passed away on December 1, 2009, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Emery and Margaret (MacDonald) Logan. Tom had served in the Second World War where he was with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders (North Novas) he had been in the 2nd wave of the first day of courageous battle of the D-Day Invasion. After serving he went to work as a stevedore and later for Nova Scotia Light & Power as a stationary engineer retiring after 35 years. Tom was also an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the woods, was also a true animal lover and avid card player. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends. Tom is survived by daughters, Shirley (Don) Marsh, Lower Sackville; Pat Logan, Halifax; Mary Ann Logan, Calgary, Alta.: sons, Walter (Wanda), Waterloo, Ont.; Don (Jean), Mount Uniacke; Colin (Judy), Calgary, Alta.; sister, Marion Budgell, Halifax; brother, Neil Logan, Halifax; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife, Virtue Nellie (Bennett) (Dowling); sons, Charlie Dowling and Bob Dowling; sisters, Helen Wilson, Jean Perrier; brothers, Don, Roy, Gerald; grandson, Peter Yaschuk and granddaughter, Dawn Jan Marsh. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J.A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601) where visitation will be held Sunday, December 6, from 2-4 p.m. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 7, in St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Father Rob Arsenault officiating with reception to follow in the church hall. Interment to take place in St. Johns Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of choice.
