Obituary of James Morton Latter
Latter, James Morton (Jim), 80, died on November 15, 2009, at Northwood Centre. Born in Herring Cove on May 28, 1929, he was the son of the late William and Florella (Dempsey) Latter. Jim served as a navigator in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He later became a civilian pilot and flying remained his lifelong passion. Among his other interests were travel, automobiles and his dogs. He was active in the transportation industry and was a successful entrepreneur and businessman. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Bezanson-Latter; children Maureen Sargent (Robert), Michael, Timothy, Mark (Wanda) and Terrence (Julie); step-children Allan (Sandy), Reginald (Linda) and Charles (Sandra) Bezanson, Barbara Anne Scott, (Bruce) and Marilyn Perkins; and grandchildren Kristopher, James, Billyjoe, April, Douglas, Maureen, Samantha, Thane, Jesse, Kathleen, Amanda, Carol Anne, William and Joshua; and brother Edward and sister Elizabeth (Jollimore). He was predeceased by brothers, William, Basil, Graham, and Murray and sister, Barbara Burke. Cremation has taken place under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601). A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 10 AM from St. Paul's Catholic Church, Herring Cove. A reception will follow and internment will take place at St. Paul's Cemetery. Jim's family wish to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Seven Centre at Northwood for their outstanding care and support.
