Obituary of Ken McFarlane

McFARLANE, Kenneth Arthur Paul "Syke" — 59, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 12, 2009, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Charles Nicholson and Doris McFarlane. Ken was an avid hockey and sports fan. He loved music and thoroughly enjoyed entertaining and socializing. He will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten by his angel and best friend, Donna Moreash; sons, Kenny and Keith; daughters, Kayla and Terri Marie (Craig); eight grandchildren; brothers, Willie (Debbie), Chuck (Tammy); sisters, Diane (Bill), Kathy (Fred); several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Debbie; step-father Bill Alchorn, . His strength and courage will always be remembered. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of 7A VG Site, Palliative Care. Also to Danny and Joanne for driving Ken to his radiation treatments, and to Father George Esber for his companionship and friendship. Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601). By request there will be no visitation. A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, November 16 at 10 a.m., from the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
