Obituary of Irene McNeil

McNEIL (Moore), Irene Mary — 67, Spryfield. Renie as she was often known by friends and family, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2009, after a short illness in the QEII Health Sciences Center, with her children and eldest grandson lovingly by her side. Irene was born in Halifax on August 21, 1942, and worked at the Grace Maternity-IWK Hospital and retired after 25 years of service. She is survived by her mother, Ann Moore (Shanks); children, Ronda (Willem), Scotland; Robert (Jackie), Eastern Passage; Beverly (John), Halifax; Joan (Dave), Eastern Passage; Elizabeth (Bruce), Spryfield; Marianne (Arnold), Coldbrook; grandchildren, Andrew (Amanda), Conor, Darcie, Riley, Thomas, Joseph, Alex, Daniel, Ryan and Regan; great-granddaughter, Macara; brothers, Ted, Richard, Robert and Peter; sister, Wendy (Balser) and their families. She will be missed by her constant companion Kane, who slept at her feet. She was predeceased by her father, Edward. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield, (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, November 6, at 10 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Elaine Walcott officiating. A reception will follow the service. All family and friends are welcome. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those who cared for her in the end. May you rest in peace Mom. Til we meet again, love you forever.
