Obituary of Mona Drabble
DRABBLE (Wheadon), Mona Lela 79, Williamswood, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Lela (Nickerson) Wheadon. Mona was a much loved elementary school teacher with the Halifax School Board for over 20 years. She was a member of Boy Scouts of Canada and was an active member of the B.P. Guild. She was an active member of St. Paul's United Church, Spryfield including the Fry Board. An avid and passionate artist, she spent many hours painting and enjoyed teaching painting at St. Paul's Church. She was also a member of the Bedford Artist's Society and was President of the Association of Atlantic Area Artists. She is survived by her son, Dan (Ajantha), Halifax; daughter, Virginia (Dale) Arsenault, Herring Cove; grandson, Kirk Drabble; and granddaughter, Onika Drabble, Halifax; brothers, Ralph (Jan) Wheadon, Timberlea; James (Linda) Wheadon, Coldbrook; sister, Betty (Ron) Taylor, Greenwood; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will take place on Thursday September 10, at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's United Church, 173 Old Sambro Rd., Spryfield. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Family Resource Center.
