Obituary of Roy Forbes

FORBES, Roy Arthur … 78, Halifax, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 11, 2009. Born in Halifax on October 26, 1930, he was the son of the late Samuel and Beatrice (Finck) Forbes. Roy was an employee of Clover Produce for 32 years. He was an avid gardener and loved playing crib on Wednesday. He loved fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roy will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Joan (Kemp) of 52 years, his sons Mark (Judith), Scott both of Lower Sackville; his cherished grandchildren Challon, Alexandra, Joshua, Ryan, Aaron and Brenden. He held special love for his great-grandchildren Emma and Clark. Roy was predeceased by sisters Dorothy Murray, Nora Forbes and brothers Reg, Elwood, Gerald and Richard Arrangements are under the direction of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, (477-5601). By request there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 15 at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 26 Purcell’s Cove Road, Halifax with Fr. Rob Arsenault officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Roy’s memory to the CWL Scholarship Fund of St. John the Baptist Parish.
