Obituary of Frances Dunn
Dunn, Frances Margaret: 81, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the New Halifax Infirmary with her family by her side. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and the youngest daughter of the late John and Sarah (MacDonald) Dunn. Moving to Kline Heights in the 1950’s, she helped her husband build the house in which she is still residing. In her early years, Frances had been employed with Halifax Credit Bureau, Department of Government Services, The Daily News, and Moirs. She was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and The National Campers and Hikers Association. Frances enjoyed camping and the outdoors, but one of her greatest passion was being a foster parent to many children over the years. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and caring lady who loved to have a game of cards and of course her cup of Timmy’s coffee. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Jeanette Anthes (Leonard), Fonthill, ON, Carolyn Proulx (Maurice), Harrietsfield, Georgina Cochrane, Halifax, Rosann Clarke (Arthur), Lakeside, and Shelley Callaghan, Cowie Hill, her son, Gerry Dunn, and her cat Boo, at home, as well as her grandchildren, Deborah Timmers, Leonard Anthes, Ontario, Michael Proulx, PEI, Patrick Proulx, Dartmouth, Jason Cochrane, Bridgewater, Scott Cochrane, Limehouse, Ontario, Jennifer Falkenham, Armdale, Teri-Lynn Callaghan, Cowie Hill, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George, Daughter, Madelyn, sisters, Lucy and Madeleine, brothers, George and Charles, and canine companion, Dryfuss.
Resting at JA Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 11 AM from St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Spryfield, with Fr. Gerry Gauvreau as celebrant. Interment will take place in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax, NS. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate remembrances in memory of Frances to the charity of the donor’s choice.
