Obituary of Vida Zinck

ZINCK, Vida Viola, 91, of Spryfield, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2009. Born in Spryfield, on August 3, 1917, she was a daughter of the late John and Phoebe (Downing) Nicholson. Vida, a life long resident of Spryfield, was a member of the Golden Age Society and the Emmanuel Anglican Church in Spryfield. Vida enjoyed the local teas held by the Historical Society, visits with dear friends, and cherished her memories of skating with her dear late husband Norm. Vida always enjoyed baking goodies for family and friends. She is survived by her daughters Norma (Bobby Hanes) of Upper Kentecook and Brenda D'Eon of Dartmouth; grandchildren Rob D'Eon (Heather Keith), Heather Hanes and Cheri D'Eon (Dennis Lester); great grandchildren James, Holly and Morgan; special nephew Aubrey Nicholson; sister Gwen Feltham. Vida was predeceased by husband Norman Zinck; brothers Sam Nicholson, Alex Nicholson; sister Ruth Hatfield; son in law Scott Barry. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the 4th floor of Arborstone Enhanced Care. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601) where visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1 from 2-5 PM. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 2 at 2 PM from the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Vida’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
