Obituary of Peter Saulnier
SAULNIER, Peter Vincent … 61, Spryfield, went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2008. He was a son of the late Russell and Rose (Fricker) Saulnier. He was a devoted Santa’s helper who portrayed Santa in the Spryfield Santa Clause Parade and the Spryfield Mall. He was the founder of the Mainland South Heritage Society and the local historian and genealogist. He constructed many miniature replicas of the local historical buildings of Spryfield (on display at the Captain William Spry Library, Spryfield). As well he was an active member of the Maritime Civil War Living History Association. Peter was a devoted husband of 38 years to his wife Sharon (Oakley). He was the loving father of sons, Mark (Deanna) Halifax; Andrew (Krista) and Christopher (Cheryl), Spryfield. He is survived by sisters Esther (Gordon) Jewers, Dartmouth; Betty (Jim) Bernard, Spryfield; brothers Russell (Peggy), Halifax; Willard “Wink” (Kathy), Lower Sackville; grandchild Kayla Rose and step grandchildren Christina, Dawn, Darcy and Taylor; many nieces and nephews; loving father in law Leo and mother in law Helen Oakley, Harrietsfield.
Arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Saturday, August 30 and Sunday, August 31 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 1, 2008 at 10 AM in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Spryfield. Interment at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the Mainland South Heritage Society, the Heart and Stoke Foundation or charity of one’s choice.
