Obituary of Albert "Bert" Taylor
Taylor, Albert W. “Bert”: 64, Halifax, passed away following a lengthy illness on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in St. Hyacinth’s, Quebec, he is a son of Etta (Shano) Taylor and the late Arthur Taylor. Bert was a giving and forgiving man, who was a kind, friendly and fun-loving person. For many years he owned and operated “Fat Albert’s Catering”, and later “Big Al’s” Ultramar. Bert was passionate about his spirituality, practicing daily prayer and devotion. He was a life-long Salvationist and a life-time member of the Salvation Army, where he had played in the band and sang with the “Songsters”. He was also a dedicated Scout Leader, actively participating with the Scotian Glen Camp and Men’s Camp, where he will be remembered for his witty practical jokes. Bert is survived by his wife, Sharon (Harasymchuk), his sons, Mark (Kelli), and Kevin, both of Halifax, his special daughter, Josie, his mother, Etta, three granddaughters, Alicia, Ashley, and April, and his two brothers, Arthur (friend, Anita), Bridgewater, and George (Nora), Sackville. He was predeceased by his father, and brother, Jimmy. Thank you to the nurses and staff of 8.1 and 8.2, QEII, and special thanks to the nurses, as well as Dr. S. Connidis and Dr. Allie of 8.4, QEII for all the care and compassion given to Bert.
Resting at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS (477.5601), where visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 1 PM from the funeral home chapel, with the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will take place in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family would appreciate remembrances to the Canadian Liver Association, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Salvation Army Community Church, Spryfield.
