SMITH, Burton Frederick William - 71, Bald Rock, passed away peacefully in his family's loving arms on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Hackett's Cove, he was a son of the late Mary Ann Smith. Burton had been employed with Guildford's Ltd. for 37 years until his retirement. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, the former Shirley Marion Jensen, Bald Rock; son, Gregory (Dana Oakley), Bald Rock; daughter, Deborah (Brian Richardson), Sambro; grandchildren, Scott, Sasha and Bradley Smith, Bald Rock; birth mother, Helen D'Aubin, Hackett's Cove. He was predeceased by his best friend and beloved companion, Muffin, his Yorkshire Terrier. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601). By request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 1, at 2 p.m. in St. James United Church, Sambro, with Rev. Ellen Wilson as celebrant. Private interment at a later date.
