Obituary of Douglas Skelhorne

SKELHORNE, Douglas Kenneth J.: 85, Halifax, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 6, 2008. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Emma (Rowe) Skelhorne. Douglas began his career with the Merchant Navy in 1938; Army R.C.D’s from 1954-1966. He then was employed as a commissionaire, where he worked until his health declined, and later retired. He is survived by loving wife of 60 years, Kathleen (McManus), sisters, Hilda L. Bushie, Simons Settlement, Marion E. Paquin, Lakeside, Betty L. Johnson, Montreal, brother, Lloyd Walter, Quebec, as well as his nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers, Donald W., Delton H., Murray A., and Eric W., and sister Doris M. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield, NS (477.5601), where a memorial service will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 11 AM from the chapel, with Rev. Patricia Malin as officiant. Interment will take place at a later date. In memory of Douglas, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
