Obituary of Clyde Joseph McAvoy

MCAVOY, Clyde Joseph - 82, Herring Cove, passed away February 13, 2008. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Charles and Stella (Gorman) McAvoy. He was retired from Maritime Tel & Tel after 41 years of service. He is survived by his daughter, Colleen (Cyril) Craig, Herring Cove; sons, Gary (Kathy), Brookside; Ross (Colleen), Herring Cove, Dan (Maureen), Herring Cove; grandchildren, Mike, Nick, Jonathon, Erin, Melissa, Jeffrey, Meghan, and Kristopher McAvoy; great-grandsons, Hayden and Colton McAvoy; brother James (Grace), Halifax; sisters, Marguerite Pelham, Winnipeg; Noreen (George) Wheeler, St. Catherine’s, Ontario; Catherine (Gerard) Gallagher, Herring Cove; brothers-in-law, Donald (Gert), Truro, Robert (Pearl), Truro, Bruce (Pat), Winnipeg; sisters-in-law, Mabel McAvoy, Berwick, and Theresa McNeil, Bridgetown, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Miriam ‘Mim” (McNeil) McAvoy; sister, Marie McAvoy; and brothers, Charles and Frank McAvoy. Arrangements are under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601). There will be no visitation by family request. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February, 18 at 11 a.m. St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Herring Cove, with Fr. Gerry Gauvreau as celebrant. Reception to follow in church hall.
