Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Morrison
MORRISON, Elizabeth - Halifax, formerly of Sydney, passed away in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, on February 7, 2008, after a brief illness. Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Margaret (Butler) and John R. Gillis. She attended St. Anne's School in Glace Bay and Mount St. Bernard College, Antigonish. She had worked for a number of years at Taxation Canada. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Justice Vincent Morrison, in 1987, as well as a sister who died in infancy. She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother with a well remembered sense of humour. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Patricia MacInnis (Greg), Howie Centre; Susan, Halifax; John David (Rose), Markham, Ont., and Glenna MacAdam (Ronnie). She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy MacNeil (John F.), Sydney, and brother, John J. Gillis (Idella), Westmount. She will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews, and her loyal companion, Bugsy. Liz's good heart and great wit will live on in her beautiful granddaughters, Melanie, Meghan, Catriona, Cara, Bhreagh, Ainslie, Kiley, and Kaleigh. She is also survived by her brand new great-granddaughter, Sienna Christina Elizabeth. Resting in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 7-9 p.m. in T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 12, at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Sydney, with Father Anthony O'Connor as celebrant. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery. The family would appreciate remembrances in memory of Elizabeth be made to the SPCA.
