Obituary of Barbara Hunter

HUNTER, Barbara Helen… 78, Halifax, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 15, 2008 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, after a sudden unexpected illness. Born in Fredericton, NB she was a daughter of the late Harry and Lena (Dunbar) Young. Barb showed kindness, compassion and generosity in every thing she did, and she will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband, Donald Hunter; daughter, Susan Hunter (Al Thorley) and granddaughter, Wren Hunter Thorley, Pugwash; Donald’s sons, David Hunter, Halifax; Lee Hunter and family, Stowe, Vermont; as well as Bill and Gordon Young and families of New Brunswick. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601). In the Parkhill United Church, worship service on Sunday, January 20th, at 9:15 AM, there will be a time of remembrances held for Barbara. She was a dear friend of the congregation, and long term supporter of the church. A guest book will be provided for expressing condolences and memories following the service. Private burial will take place in Fredericton at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (NS) 902-423-6183 or 1-800-639-0222 or a local United Church.
