Obituary of Thomas "Tucker" Covey
COVEY, Thomas Francis Sr. "Tucker" - 84, Halifax, passed away January 13, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late James Edward Covey and Rose Ann (Shea) Covey Kane. Tucker was a loving husband and father, who loved his family dearly. He will be remembered as a good man. For many years Tucker had been employed with Auto Parts on Grafton St., Halifax, where he was known as a well-respected and professional gentleman in his industry. In later years, he had been employed with Eastern Equipment and then Stairs Brothers. Tucker enjoyed his livelihood and he always did his very best. He was a veteran of the Second World War, an avid golfer and a long-time member of Avon Valley Golf Course, where he had two holes in one. He is survived by his daughters, Catherine (Robert) Buchanan, Ardoise; Mary (Stephen) O'Laughlin, Tantallon; Carolyn MacNeil, Halifax; Wendy (Stephen) Evans, Goffs; son, Thomas Jr. (Rosalie) Covey; sisters, Mary (Jack) Norton, Halifax; Helen (Alf) LeBlanc, Halifax; brothers, Frank (Ollie) Covey, Halifax; Gerald (Mazie) Covey, Lunenburg; Vince (Gail) Covey, Timberlea; John (Liz) Kane, Dartmouth; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Lena (Fleckney); brother, James. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd., Spryfield (477-5601), with visitation from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 16. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Herring Cove Road, Spryfield. Interment will be held in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville.
