Obituary of Winnifred MacPhee
MACPHEE, Winnifred Claire - 93, Halifax, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2008, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS. Born in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late Edmond Peter and Mary Jane (Deveau) Thompson. Winnie was an avid reader. As the family matriarch many depended on her for knowlege and historic details of past events and people. She spent the last 3 years with the caring staff at Melville Gardens where she was encouraged to share her lovely singing voice at many functions, attending all church, music and social gatherings with her friends at Melville and her many family gatherings. The most heartfelt gift Winnie bestowed on her family and friends was the ability to impart each of us with the feeling of being the special one. She was our beautiful little lady. She brought her family, her extended families and her many friends into her heart and life with the warmth we will carry with us in celebrating her life. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Roger) Taggart, Ingramport; sons, John “Jack” (Sue Hatfield), Tantallon and Frank (Jean), Halifax; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, John Roderick MacPhee, a son, James Daniel MacPhee in infancy; sisters, Bernice Lyons and Gertrude Brown; and brothers, Cecil John Thompson, Gabriel Lincoln Thompson and Cecil Robert Thompson.
