Obituary of June Moore
Age 88, only child of George Walsh and Nellie (Martin) Walsh, passed from this earth on September 14, 2016, with her family at her side.
June was married to James H. Moore for 63 years until his death in 2013. June was born in Halifax and attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart. She had an early love of horses and was a member of the Halifax Junior Bengal Lancers as a young woman. During the Second World War, she was a member of the Canadian Woman’s Army Corps stationed in Halifax. She married the love of her life, James, on June 5, 1950 and started a family shortly after. She was a resident of Westmount subdivision for 54 years and enjoyed having family gatherings at the home on Roberts Murphy Drive. June loved to travel and was fortunate to have friends around the world; she especially loved her many trips to Bermuda. As a young woman she spent many a summer in Prospect and enjoyed returning there in her later years.
June will be missed by her sons, Wayne, Glenn (Ann) and Shawn (Suzanne); her grandchildren, Joshua, Erin, Caleb, Colin and Melody; and her great-grandchildren, Crystal and Jacob.
The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and gratitude to all of the amazing doctors and nurses at the South Shore Regional Hospital, 4th floor Acute Medical Unit for their support, compassion and professionalism.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Rd. A celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, September 22 from 2-4 p.m. in the Sky Lounge, 2717 Gladstone St., Halifax (enter buzz code 4444). Interment will take place at 2 p.m. on October 1, in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
