Obituary of Helen May McKenzie

Age 94, Halifax, passed away Wednesday August 30, 2017 at Arborstone Enhanced Care. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Pearl (Orton) Tidgwell. Helen was an avid artist and painter, loved sewing, crafts, music and dancing. She was a soft spoken lovable grandmother. She is survived by her children, Kathy Drysdale, Herring Cove; Richard, Halifax; Ronald (Mary); Susan (Pasquale), both of Hamilton Ont.; sister Bernadine Dempsey (Cyril), Herring Cove; grandchildren, Donna, Kelly, Heather, Sandy, Rob, John, Rhonda, Kim, Jodi, Joanne and John; local great grandchildren, Mya Gray, David Gray, Quentin Nugent and numerous great grandchildren afar and numerous great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald, daughter, Annette Hawkins, brother, Harold Tidgwell, sisters, Shirley Cleveland, Pearl Ellis and granddaughter Keary Gray. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. where visitation will be held Friday September 8 from 12-2 p.m. with service of remembrance to follow at 2 p.m. Rev. Elaine Walcott officiating. Interment to take place in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Herring Cove. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Kathy and Donna would like to personally thank the staff of Arborstone for their exceptional care shown to Helen.
