Obituary of Blossom May Graves
GRAVES, Blossom May age 94, of Halifax.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Blossom May Graves (Parsons) on December 29, 2024, at Melville Lodge, from natural causes. She passed quickly and peacefully with her daughter by her side. Blossom's family is truly grateful for the loving care she received from the staff at Melville Lodge and for the love and support she received from her caregiver and friend, Sue.
Born in Halifax on July 26, 1930, Blossom was the daughter of the late Wallace and Vera Parsons. Blossom was the eldest of seven children. She was married in Halifax in 1950 and became a stay-at-home mom raising her two children. Later, Blossom returned to Sears where she worked part-time until she retired. Blossom lived much of her life in Spryfield and some later years in Truro before moving in with her daughter and then onto Melville Lodge.
Blossom was truly one-of-a-kind. Her feisty and outgoing personality definitely made a lasting impression. She was such a character. Blossom loved bluegrass and country music and singing and dancing. She loved knitting and quilting. Most of all, Blossom loved meeting people. Talking to people truly was her greatest joy.
Blossom leaves behind her son, Michael in Alberta; daughter, Michelle; grandchild, Ashe (Matthew); great-grandchild, Nolan; sisters, Shirley and Betty Lou; brother, Douglas. Blossom was predeceased by her loving husband, Gerald; sisters, Nancy and Carol-Ann; brother, Sonny.
Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax. In keeping with Blossom’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
