I'm very sorry to hear of Bryan's passing. When I first arrived at Dalhousie University in 1995, I quickly became tasked with building a new Biomedical Engineering program, just as Dalhousie and TUNS were merging. It was a formidable task on many levels, but when starting any new endeavour, one of the first questions is how and if the program could pay for itself. As I spoke with administrator after administrator at both universities about how money flowed from student registrations to Faculty and Departmental units, it became clear that just about nobody understood how it all worked. But over and over people said to me, "You have to talk with Bryan Mason". I didn't know who that was, but eventually I managed to get a meeting. What followed was an enormously generous, clear-headed, ongoing tutorial on how the finances of a university work. For a few years, Bryan was my wise guide and mentor—sort of Gandalf to my Frodo. I enjoyed my time with him enormously: not just because of what and how I was learning, but because Bryan seemed to me a really good and worthy servant of the university and a genuine friend to those burdened with working there. I've met few individuals like Bryan during my nearly 30 years at Dal. I admired him and enjoyed his company; and I'm genuinely sorry to learn that he's gone. RIP, sir.

Dear Maureen and family; I am so sorry to hear of Bryan's passing. Although an employee at Dal under his leadership in my early years here, I knew him best as an East Pennant neighbor and always enjoyed our occasional chats while out and about with our dogs. He was a lovely kind gentleman I was lucky to know. Thinking of you all.

My sincere condolences on Brian's passing. He was a great Dalhousie colleague...quiet, helpful and very funny. I still have a piece of his vine plant that was in his original Hicks office which Florence and Pat looked after for many years. His legacy lives on.

Maureen, Geoff, Cathy and family, our deepest condolences on the loss of Bryan. I remember his wit and sarcastic humour. I’m sure these qualities and relationships he had will be missed.

I have amazing memories of my Uncle Bryan, the man could make you laugh at just about anything and was always so quick witted. Although we didn't get the chance to see each often, when we did, it was always cherished.
Unfortunately we lost my mother (Carol) Bryan's sister the day before Bryan passed, so December has been a hard month, but there are tons of great memories to keep their legacy going for a long time.
To my Aunt Maureen and cousins Cindy and Geoff, I want to pass along mine and Caroline's sympathy and love.

Dear Maureen; Marius & I were much saddened by the news of Bryan death. I have many fond memories of sharing time with Bryan as we toiled as respect VPs at Dal and Stfx. He was always open to discuss any issue and provide his wise insights into the issue. He was a trustworthy and honourable colleague . We have wonderful memories of the dinner party at your house some years ago. It was so nice to get together and have the company of other colleagues at the time. We send our sincere condolences and a wish that memories and family and friends will be of comfort as you continue your journey

Uncle Bryan was a wonderful man and will be deeply missed. I have many fond memories growing up during many of his and Maureen's visits to Montreal over the years, and of a trip my sister Samantha and I accompanied them, Cindy and Geoff to Quebec City to for a few days when we were young. Bryan was always a witty and intelligent person who kept the discussions around the dinner table interesting to say the least!
I know my dad, Bob, really enjoyed speaking to his brother Bryan every few weeks, and I looked forward to getting his updates on the "Halifax Mason's" at least once a month.
My thoughts are with you Auntie Maureen, Cindy and Geoff.
