Obituary of Mary Elizabeth O'Hearn

O’Hearn, Mary Elizabeth “Betty” (Clancey)- Age 98, of Prospect Village died peacefully in Halifax on November 15, 2024. Born in Halifax, Betty was the daughter of the late John William “Jack” and Mary Elizabeth (Inglis) Clancey.

Betty will be dearly missed and remembered for her love of laughter, music, and her faith. 

Betty is survived by her daughter-in-law, Joy; grandchildren, Jason and Laura; great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Matthew; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by the love of her life, James William O'Hearn; beloved son, James Garfield (Joy); brothers, John “Jack” (Alice), Leonard (Elizabeth) and Harold; sisters, Ellen and Helen (John Bernard) Kiley; niece, Elaine Kiley; nephews, Leonard “Lenny” Clancey and Wayne Clancey, Barney Kiley, and Robert “Bobby” Kiley.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Saint Vincent's Nursing Home (6th Floor) who cared so much for Betty.

Arrangements and Cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax.  In keeping with Betty’s wishes there will be no visitation.  A Funeral Service will occur on Friday, November 22^nd, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church-Holy Apostles Parish, 3709 Prospect Road, Shad Bay, N.S.  Following the Funeral Service, a reception will take place at the Whites Lake Legion from 12:30-2 p.m.
