Obituary of Thomas Alan DeLorey
DeLorey, Thomas Alan- Age 66 of Halifax, it is with extreme sadness we announce the passing of Thomas “Tommy” Alan DeLorey on October 9, 2024, at the QEII Halifax Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Clifford and Edna (Cooke) DeLorey.
Tommy started as a well driller for H.J. Edward Well Drilling for much of his life, he enjoyed working with everyone and was everyone’s friend. He also did a bit of Carpentry for Bernie Stone and assorted others, and then later he worked as a Bar Tender at the Spryfield Legion Branch 152. Tommy loved playing darts and horseshoes. Tommy was a handyman, could fix anything and everything, and was a jack of all trades. He was an avid Flea Market goer and if he saw something at the Flea Market for someone, he knew he would get it for them no matter what. Tommy also collected TONKA Trucks and was nicknamed “TONKA TOM”. He was a loving, caring, and thoughtful man who was loved by many and will be missed by many more.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Nova DeLorey; son, Joshua DeLorey; daughters, Renee Harnish, and Nicole McLeod; siblings, Jean O'melia, Halifax, Diane McLeod, Toronto, ON, Carolyn DeLorey, Halifax, Gerald (Evelyn) DeLorey, Halifax; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen McLeod.
Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Halifax. In keeping with Tommy’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Funeral Service will take place Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 11:30 at St. James Anglican Church, Herring Cove. A celebration will occur Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 2-5 p.m. at the Spryfield Legion Branch 152, 7 Sussex Street, Halifax.
