Obituary of George Allison Ramsay
80, Halifax. It is with great sadness that we, the family of George Ramsay announce his passing on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the New Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, NS. Born in Tyne Valley, PEI, he was a son of the late Bayfield and Laura Ramsay. Throughout his life, George was a painter, who started his career at the age of 14, and then owned and operated his own painting company, Ramsay’s Painting and Repair for over 35 years. George met the love of his life, Gladys, 52 years ago and together they built a beautiful life. Together they did everything and they enjoyed camping at Oakhill Campground. George, and sometimes Gladys, was often seen sitting on the front porch of their home. George loved gardening and his moonshine, but one of his greatest loves was cooking blueberry pancakes for his loving daughter, Kim. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was known for his one-line jokes. George loved animals, especially his dog, Dakota.
George is survived by his loving wife, Gladys (Finlay), his only daughter, Kim McCullogh, his siblings, Preston and Dorothy, as well as his granddaughter, Mandy, grandson, Jesse, and 5 great-grandchildren, Ryder, Kaiden, Grayson, Jaida and Jax. George was predeceased by his parents, Bayfield and Laura, his in-laws, Albert and Viola Finlay, as well as his siblings, Sonny, Gordon and Glenn. He was also predeceased by his fur baby, Dakota. Gladys would like to say thank you to Josh and Shelly Ramsay for all they did for her and George during this hard time
