Obituary of George W. Caines

87, Halifax, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late James and Annette (Foster) Caines. George graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science degree and worked for National Research Council in Halifax, for 34 years. He loved being a grandfather; he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his sons, Foster (Debbie), Halifax, and Scott (Joanne), Brookside; grandchildren, Lindsay and Michael, both of Halifax and Matthew, Vancouver; brother, Jim, Sackville; sister, Joan Anthony, Halifax. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Joyce (Watts); brother, Murray; sister, Ruth. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where a Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, February 2 at 1 PM from the funeral home chapel, with a reception to follow. Private family burial to take place in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Donations in George’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
