Sharon Boltz

Obituary of Sharon E. Boltz

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Elaine Boltz.  Sharon passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2024.

Born on April 30, 1947, Sharon was the daughter of Osbourne and Ada (Jennex) Hamm. She is survived by her sweetheart of 28 years Patrick Patry, her son Sean (Dorothy Cann), daughters Sheri (Joey Carroll) and Natalie (Chris) Longaphy.   She is also survived by her grandchildren Jodie, Vicky, Liam, Grace, Charlie, and Bobby with whom she had the most special relationships imaginable. Sharon spent many of her days telling her friends and loved ones about all of their accomplishments. She was so proud of each of them for the wonderful people they have become.  Sharon was predeceased by her parents and a sister who died in infancy.

Twenty-eight years ago Sharon found new life and love in her partner Pat. They shared so many laughs and experiences that brought joy to Sharon’s heart. She enjoyed meeting Pat’s family on their annual journeys to Newfoundland, spending time dancing, bowling and making memories with close friends.  It cannot be understated the impact that Pat’s love had on Sharon’s life and her family was inspired by their unwavering faith in each other and the genuine smiles on their faces when they were together.  Sharon spent most of her life in Herring Cove, moving to the community as a child. She made countless friends who would speak of her kindness, her genuine interest in their lives and her selflessness. Sharon loved to take care of others and would remember the smallest details about what made her friends happy and then surprise them with cards, gifts, or a listening ear if that’s what they needed. She lived to make others feel special.  However, family was the most important part of her life. She had endless love for her children and was fiercely protective of them. She made each of them feel like they were the center of the universe and her eyes would light up when the whole family was together. She was always there for them when she needed them, as an avid hockey mom when they were kids, and then in the same role to cheer on the grandchildren she loved so much. She enjoyed attending Liam’s hockey games, and was his number one fan. She was so proud to see Grace grow into a wonderful young women and was proud of all her accomplishments.  Sharon loved that she had gotten to help her daughter Sheri raise her twin daughters Jodie and Vicky, and showed them all what true, unconditional love was supposed to look like. She created a safe home that all of her children knew they could come to for love and support at any time. In later years she would run out the front door to greet her grandchildren Charlie and Bobby every time they walked by her house with an offer of a frozen treat or some of her amazing fresh baked goods!  During Sharon’s wonderful life she graduated from BC Silver School, graduated from Miss Murphy’s Business College and worked at the Department of Justice. Her favorite workplace memories were made at Westburne Company, and working at Dal Tech in Department of Engineering. She made many memories with her co-workers and colleagues.  Sharon, your family will always cherish the strength and courage you showed when difficult times arose. You were our rock, our inspiration, our listening ear and our heart.  We will love you forever.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 6-8PM at the funeral home.  A private family interment will take place at a later date.  Sharon's wish was to  be reunited with her beloved parents, Osbourne and Ada, as well as her sister, at St. John's Cemetery in Halifax.

In honour of Sharon’s memory the family would like you to remember that kindness is contagious and would ask you to share kindness, forgiveness and love with someone who is in need.
