Obituary of Darlene Anne Harris

HARRIS, Darlene Anne- 64 of Halifax, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on February 24, 2024, at Halifax Hospice. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter to Gerrard and Wanda Olaizola.  Darlene was a loving, and caring person.  She loved her family, she had a very special place in her heart for her grand babies, and was extremely proud of each and every one of their accomplishments.  She also loved spending time with her children.  Darlene enjoyed taking scenic drives to all her favorite places.  She also loved watching true crime stories and ghost stories.  She had many various careers but one she particularly enjoyed was working at the Stadacona Base.  She was a very strong-willed woman who fought a long courageous 4-year cancer battle.  She is survived by her daughter, Joannie Harris; son, Gary (Jennifer) Harris; grandchildren, Dominick, Ronnie, Gary Jr., Jack, and Nicholas; sister, Margo.  She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Miya; sister, Elizabeth “Betty”, along with many other family members.  Her family will forever miss her.  

Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax.  In keeping with Darlene’s wishes, there will be a visitation held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 12-2 p.m. followed by a funeral service in our chapel starting at 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out in Darlene’s name to Halifax Hospice House
