Obituary of Phyllis Yvonne Baker

BAKER, Phyllis Yvonne - Age 90 of Halifax. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Phyllis Yvonne Baker (nee Langille) on September 11, 2023. Born May 28, 1933, in Halifax, NS. She lived a long and happy life. 

Mom took great pride in caring for her children and her home. She always looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren. She especially loved the holiday season. She was the spirit of Christmas, and her tree was a work of art. She enjoyed putting together her puzzles and coercing anyone she could to stay and help.

She will be missed by her puppy, Teddy, who was her loving companion for the last four years.

She is survived by children, Darrell (Kara), Tim (Carla), and Debbie (Mike) Kline. Nanny Phyllis will be dearly missed by grandchildren, Jenn Langille (Rob Corbett), Colin (Jodie Pipes), Samantha (Leon) Singer, Brent, Daniel Kline, and Gabrielle Kline; great-grandchildren, Jacob Langille, and Owen Singer.

She is also survived by her brother, Wendell (Donna); sisters-in-law, Marion Langille, and Eileen (Harold) Sponagle.

She was predeceased by her husband Roland of 53 years; biological mother, Hannah Langille; parents, John and Isabelle Langille; brothers, Jimmy (Margaret) and Oland; sisters, Helen (Frank) Mitchell, Donnie (Harold) Snyder, Maxine (Gerry) Noel, and Dorothy (Stewart) Yeadon.

Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. 

By request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A private interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis’ memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
