Obituary of Cyril Donald Dobbin

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Cyril Donald “Don” Dobbin, age 73, of Halifax, NS on Sunday August 27, 2023 at the QEII Infirmary. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Richard and Selena “Jennie”(Grandy) Dobbin. In addition to his parents he was preceded by his sister, Donna Mae Newell.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, the former Ann Keeping; sisters, Frances and Shirley; brothers, Ron, Lawrence (Wendy) and Tommy (Denenia); daughters, Dawn (Warren), Terrie and Tammy (Moosie); grandchildren, Justin, Tori, Miranda (Tristan), Brittany (Luke), Luciano and Claudia (Ben); great grandchildren, Dysien, Miranda “Milly”, Lennen, Kasen, Isabelle and Penelope and special friend Kenny MacIsaac, he loved all dearly.

He was known as Granddad to many, they all held a special place in his heart.

Don’s second home was his place of work at Speedy as a licensed mechanic for 20 plus years. George and the staff were always good to Don and even after he retired they continued to treat him as family and let him tell them what they were doing wrong. The family is forever grateful.

He had a quick tongue and a great sense of humor, which he had up until his last day. He was equally a kind sole and would give anyone the shirt off of his back and loved to feed anyone who came to the house or anyone he thought needed it.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
