Obituary of Lorraine Ann Holt
HOLT (Pottie), Lorraine Ann- Age 84 of Halifax, It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear, sweet mother, Lorraine Ann Holt. She was born in Halifax to the late Sybil Bernice Pottie (Elliott) of Saint John, NB and Joseph (Joe) Alfred Pottie, L'Ardoise, Cape Breton.
Lorraine began her work life at a very young age & held many positions throughout her life; from a server in many restaurants to managing a store for a large retail distributor. Lorraine married young & continued to work hard to raise and provide for her family. The position she excelled at the most was that of being a mom. Lorraine was happiest when surrounded by family. She enjoyed the simple things in life & took pleasure in dancing, playing cards, bingo & reading. Her pride & joy was deeply rooted in her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. She loved to reminisce & tell stories of people & days gone by.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Tingley (Marc) Halifax, NS; son, Gordon Little (Sandi) Moncton, NB; sister, Sybil Evong (Allan) Porters Lake, NS; brothers, Thomas Pottie, Halifax and David Pottie, Halifax; brother-in-law Wayne Sampson; sister-in-law, Norma Pottie; grandchildren, Ian, Paul, Brett, Nicholas, Michelle and Taylor; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Allison Timothy (Tim) Holt; daughters, Lorraine Key (Little) and Jacqueline Little; sisters, Shirley Murphy, Joan Sawler, Josephine Foster, Gloria Pottie and Diann Sampson; brothers, Joseph (Joe-Joe) Pottie and Ronald (Duke) Pottie.
Arrangements and cremation have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Road, 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax. In keeping with Lorraine’s wishes there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Maplestone Enhanced Care for their compassion & love towards our mother over the past 3 years and especially in her final days. Words cannot express the comfort that brought us.
