Dear Peggy,
I am very sorry to hear about Russell's passing! I never met Russell in person but we met through ancestry.ca and it was such a joy to help him piece together some of his family history. In our handful of chats I could see what a passionate, kind, a dedicated person he was. I can see a resemblance to his cousins on the memorial photos you've put together. Please accept our condolences on behalf of myself and my family who got to know Russell during his search for answers in his family tree.
We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers in this difficult time,
Gina & family

It was with sorrow that Monique and I learned of Russel's passing. Not only was Russell family, we worked with him for many years at Canada Post. For me and many others, Russell was the go to person whenever a fair and judgement free voice was required. His quiet, calm demeanor was respected by all. Our heartfelt condolences to Peggy and family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Russell at First Cong, on Friday's during Senior's Group. He was always calling me to come down from the office when the luncheon was served, and made sure I got my fair share. We would bond over our love for cats, the country, and hunting stories. He would ask me how my day was, check to see if I was done all my duties as the administrator at the church, and then encourage me to leave early or just skip out on the day haha. He always made me chuckle. Then once a year he would bring the world famous lasagna. Everyone talked about that lasagna. I didn't really fully know about his talent for cooking until Russell and Peggy invited us and the church staff over for Little Christmas one year, the food spread out before us was magnificent. What a gift of hospitality and food you both have! Thank you for blessing us with that.
We will all miss Russell here, he always gave us a laugh or made us say "Oh Russell", he was such a big part of our church family, and we will miss him terribly. Peggy, our condolences to you, we grieve with you as your church family, and are praying for you. God Bless you!

Russell, Peter and I were childhood friends in Spryfield. I'm sure Russell will chuckle at one memory: He said he had six toes per foot. I said, 'no way'. Off come the sneakers and 'Yes Way'. We lost touch but met again about ten years later (recognized each other immediately) at a forest fire near Collpitt Lake, Spryfield in early May. We fought it to the ground (with a little help from our friends), but over-stayed our welcome and spent a chilly night huddled around a more modest fire. You and Peter led amazing and impactful lives! May you rest in peace.

Peggy, we are sharing in your sadness as we remember Russell. He gave so much love to everyone around him. He was the first person to welcome us to First Cong and we shared a special bond ever since. He drove my mom to the airport, lent us his vehicle, made meals for us, gave us books, gave us his unconditional friendship. He called my children his granddaughters and they loved him. It was so special to share with him in our house group. I pray that the Lord may comfort you and fill you with his peace knowing that we will see Russell again. Blessings, Ana Patricia

Dear Peggy, we were sorry to hear of Russell’s passing. He had a tremendous impact on my life and I’ll especially remember sharing a room with him on the Mississippi Trip in 1998 where he was relentless in sharing about Jesus with me and challenging me to give my life to Him. Russell’s persistence was exactly what I needed and God worked powerfully through him. In the last 25 years he has encouraged many like me. Praying for you in this hard season as you miss him. I will will miss him too. Blessings, Rev. Daniel Ingram

Peggy, Mom and Kevin and I were so sorry to hear of Russell's passing. He was a kind and gentle man. He had such a positive energy. He always reminded me of my dad with his quiet strength and wry wit. This photo from Paul and Val's potluck in 2011 is how I always think of Russell...smiling his mischievous little grin. He will be missed. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

We were so sorry to learn of Russell's passing but know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord which is far better. We shared many great conversations over the years at many CCCC events. Our condolences to Peggy and family. He was a good and faithful servant who will be much missed.

Rev. Russell was such a gentle, kind and caring person. I came to know him at St. David’s Presbyterian Church, Toney River, where I’m a minister. He attended service when he came around in the summer and did a little write up for our church’s 200th anniversary. Ironic that I heard the news of his passing the same day I received a Christmas card from he and Peggy from the mail. Accept my heartfelt condolences, Peggy. May God’s comfort and peace be with you and your family. Rest on soldier of the cross. You fought a good fight of faith.

Russell was one of my very close friends. With many shots about being a West Coaster and a sailor to boot, Russell said he like me anyway. We talked on the phone and commiserate about the state of affairs often. I will miss those conversations immensely.
He was a spiritual guide and a great human being!
My condolences Peggy.

Peggy, our sincerest condolences on Russell's passing. We haven't seen each other for years but your names come up, every once in a while, during conversations - only good things, I can assure you... I don't think we knew that Russell had a weak heart, but he was very good at sharing it with others. Rest in Peace, Russell, until we meet again.

I never really knew Russell, but just weeks before his leaving us, he spoke to me when handing me his humungeous turkey roast pan with its cover in a large black garbage bag. I then got to meet his beautiful wife Peggy. I was fascinated by a ring she wore, which she told me was one from her extensive junk jewelry collection.
In the brief encounters I had that day with Russell, I felt a warmth and love from him. I know he is going to be in peace in the loving arms of Jesus Christ!
With love,
Sarah Hamad
