Obituary of Douglas H. Hill

77, Halifax, died on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, surrounded by family. Born in Beechville on December 1, 1938, he was a son of the late William Henry and Lola Elizabeth Hill. Douglas accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Beechville Baptist Church. He was the proud owner of Hill’s Roofing and Repairs for many years. Business ownership allowed him an opportunity to give back to the community by providing employment opportunities to young men, providing invaluable business advice and sponsoring community groups and events. He is survived by children, Owen and Doreen, Halifax, Paul and Paula, Ottawa and Darcelle, Toronto; grandchildren, Gabriel, Mateo, Jialyn, Daria, Anthony, George, Northrop, Keihgan, Teyven, Tahir and Bilqees; brothers, Kenneth (Anne) and Robert (Thelma), both of Halifax, Byron (Sylvia) of Lethbridge AB; sisters, Faye (Alfred) Williams, Halifax, Noreen (Danny) McDonald and Barbara (Robert), both of Toronto and Gail (Leon) Downey, Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Douglas ‘Otis’ Hill and brother, Cecil Henry Hill. Many thanks to Pastor Lloyd Grant, Pastor Keith Wells, Deacon Eric Murphy, friends and family for their many visits and prayers. Also, to the Staff at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, for all their care. Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where visitation will take place on Sunday, September 25th from 7-9pm with a Men’s Brotherhood Service being held from 8-9pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September, 26 at 1pm from Beechville Baptist Church, Pastor Lloyd Grant Officiating. Interment to follow in Beechville Baptist Church Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Beechville Baptist Church.
