My first contact with Reg was one late evening in 1968 ( my first year as an AYC member), trying to creep to my mooring in dense dark and fog. I could not fing it and he suddenly pulled up in a motorized skiff and took me to the mooring less than 18 ft away.He stayed around until I secured " Roberta " my 21 ft sloop and then dropped me of at the AYC dock ( almost invisable in fog ! ). When I asked how he did that, he answered " I' ve lived here 50 years ! "
I never forgot the experience.
My sincere condolonces to the entire family.

Dear Carolyn and Ron -Reg was certainly Melville Coves finest —He did it all and more - in our teens Donnie Hopkins and I played hockey with him when he was in his prime — I can very clearly remember Donnie and me in the rumble seat of Regs Model AFord on those cold and winters night going and coming to the old Halifax Arena -we had good teams and players and a fair amount of success in the Suburban League (the oldest Sr League in Canada at that time) The obituary says it all - a beautiful summary of a life well lived!!!- Bill Bailly

So sorry to hear of Uncle Reg's passing from Cathy and Lee Crowell. We will never forget the warmth of Uncle Reg's smile. He and Aunt Dot were a wonderful team. Some of my fondest memories are of them showing their newest flowers or vegetables in their home garden or at Owl's Head. I was glad to hear that they travelled to Holland in their later years which must have been the highlight of their gardening lives. It has been hard to think of Uncle Reg without his Dot. May you be comforted by the thought of them now being together again.

Our sincere condolences from David and Marie Bellefontaine. We remember well a visit with your mother and father in 1962. I was serving in the RCAF in France from 1958 to 1962 and met my wife there during that time. It was Marie's first taste of Canadian hospitality and their kindness was certainly a pleasant and memorial experience for her and much appreciated.

Dear Carolyn and Ron, while we all hoped Reg would live forever, he certainly had a good run. My memories go back to before you were born, when Reg used to have coach Bill Bailey join him in the front seat of his Model A Ford, and Bobby Bennett and me in the rumble seat with the hockey sticks as we went to the old Halifax Shirley Street Arena when your Dad played for the Melville Cove hockey team. And in the summer, I had the pleasure of sailing with him on l'Hirondelle on many occasions. He was always so positive and supportive in every way. It was such a treat to get to see him at the Melville Cove Reunion. I remember thinking then that, even though he was 20 years older than me, he looked younger. Treasure your abundant memories as you deal with your loss and please accept Mary's and my sincere condolences for your loss.

The class of yachts called Stars are 100years old this year. Younger than Reg.
There was a new L'Hirondelle carrying on the tradition in the commemorative race held on the harbor last week.
