Obituary of Gloria Stoner
It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the peaceful passing of Gloria Jean Stoner (nee Gray), age 81, on December 3rd, 2021, surrounded by family after courageously battling multiple medical issues. Gloria was born on April 29th, 1940 at her family home in Sambro, Nova Scotia. She married her love, James in 1962 while he was in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and they relocated to Ontario in 1968 prior to returning to Sambro in 1988.
Gloria is survived by her husband James, her children Kelly (Brian) Uberig of Ontario, and Bill (Joanne) Stoner of Massachusetts, her grandchildren Jenny (Chris) Handy and Anna (Joven) McDonald of Ontario, Matthew (Annette) Stoner and Michelle (Waylon) Stoner of California, as well as her many siblings - Helen (Doug) Smith, Margaret (Keith) Grey and Gladys (Don) Ashford, Glen (Chrystal) Gray, Marshall (Dolly) Gray and Wallace (Winnie) Gray. Gloria is predeceased by her parents George and Helen (Jollimore) Gray as well as siblings Arthur (Maisie) Gray, Herman (Joan) Gray, Marie (Cecil) Billard, Verna (Clyde) Myatt, Gordon (Olive) Gray and Dora.
Gloria was a caring and loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed her family, women’s barbershop singing, her family gospel singing group, playing guitar, playing piano for the church, her many flowers and plants, traveling with Jim and the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, and more recently "surfing the internet". She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and had a great outlook on life along with a great sense of humour - Gloria will be forever remembered with love.
Gloria was a long standing member of St. James United Church, Sambro - a member of the choir and music director.
The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thanks to Chrystal and Glen Gray, and the wonderful staff of the QE II Hospital.
