Obituary of Sharon Ann Ferguson
Ferguson, Sharon Ann passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the age of 67. Born in Halifax, NS, she was a daughter of the late Stanley Gardiner and Delma (Knickle) Gardiner. She spent her early years growing up in Newfoundland, and Ontario.
Due to often getting in fights with her siblings, she was shipped off to spend many summers in Lunenburg, her favourite place, with her late grandmother, Grace (Wagner) Knickle. She worked 25 years at Eaton's in various departments, and always made arrangements to sail with the Roue fleet, for Wednesday night races at the Dartmouth Yacht Club. She was known at the Bedford Yacht Club "as a keeper" for her effort toalways put the boat first, after, she jumped ship into 4 feet of water to fend the boat away from the rocky shore. She married her husband (whom she met at Eaton's) at a secret wedding following a Valentine's day proposal and her response being, "sorry can you sa that again?". She always had a passion for sewing, whether it was making cozy blankets which she often gifted, making costumes for the Gilbert and Sullivan Society, or simply showing up to work in a new outfit that she had stayed up all night making. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, and was always ready for a road trip that usually involved camping, even if it ended by pitching up amongst other cars at a car dealership due to vehicle malfunctions. She was always supportive of her daughter's commitment to competitive swimming, always showing on the pool deck with snacks (usually licorice). She enjoyed hosting big family gatherings, and always had a festive table set and ready to welcome all who came.
She will be missed and forever remembered by her husband, William "Bill" Ferguson; her daughter, Rebecca Ferguson; her mother, Delma Gardiner; her sister, Jane Gardiner (Mike); her brother, Rick Gardiner (Janet); her niece, Nancy Gardiner; and nephews, Chris Gardiner, Josh Rouleau, Jeff Rouleau, Jon Rouleau, Reg Jones (Crystal), Chris Jones as well as her brother-in-law, Brian Ferguson. Sharon will also missed by very close friends Mike and Rae Owen (Ceri and Meredith); George "Skip" and Shirley Borgal; Yvonne and Dave Yetman; Belinda Hutt; Ron Wentzell and many others. She was predeceased by her father, Stanley Gardiner; sister-in-law, Marlene Elliott, and dearest friend, Marilyn Wentzell.
