The passing of my dear friend Marlene has saddened me beyond words. She was the best of the best in every sense of the word. To say I'm sorry does not begin to express how I feel. I loved her in life and will continue to do so until we meet again. RIP Mar.

To the Ferguson and Elliott Families......Marlene and I have been friends since Armdale Junior High days and then again working at Staples. She was pure of heart, a true friend, a lover of animals and respectful of the world she lived in. I cannot believe she is gone but I am sure all the fabulous musicians that have gone before her will welcome her with open arms. The Band is now complete. I raise my glass to you my friend of 50 yrs and send my condolences to your family.

Marlene and I started grade Primary together and our friendship went right up to our teenage years. We had great times together and got into lots of trouble, but good trouble. I can remember running into their house and running up to her bedroom and he Mom calling Marly what are you guys up to, we would just giggle. Even though we lost contact with each other in our later years I always considered her one of my best friends as a kid and I loved that friendship. We loved to dance and I love to imagine she is dancing now. My heart is heavy for you.

Marina and I want you to know of our heart-broken loss of our dear friend and my band mate in On Common Ground (which sprung out of us all working at the same company but also because of a love of same types of music) Marlene and I shared the co-lead singing duties for the group and it was my particular pleasure to provide the back up vocals and harmonies when she did Cheatin Heart by Hank Williams and Rita McNeil's Working Man. The rest of OCG are working this week to provide our tribute for Marlene at the service on 20 August 16 at Walker's Funeral Chapel in Spryfield. I look forward to passing to you personally my condolences, Reg. Carl (OCG) & Marina Burns

Brent and Wendy Laidlaw posted a condolence
We met Marlene & Ron through Karla Hanratty and instantly liked them both. Marlene invited us to a gathering at her home and we went and boy could she sing. Brent was mesmerized by her voice. We grew to love Marlene and bought a chicken too. We also got to meet Chicklet ( a chicken who the others didn't like. To the family we are deeply saddened for your loss, and pray you will keep all of the fun, happy memories in your heart that you had together.

Reg Mom called me last week and told my about Mar's passing. I was very shocked and saddened to hear this. I have many many amazing memories of your mom. She was a huge part of my life growing up. I cant go this Saturday - as I am running our 13U AAA provincials and have to be at the ball field. Just wanted you to know I have been thinking about her - and your family this week. Love Holly

I was shocked when I read Marlene's obituary in the paper this morning. We were neighbours of Marlene before 2007. I used to pick blueberries in her field even when she was at work at Staples. She trusted me. I never cheated her, but Jim was there who accused me of not giving enough money. She was a very nice person, and her trust was appreciated. I"m glad she met someone decent who loved her and didn't just use her. She was a very decent human being, and the world has lost another good person, and we're poorer for it. Our sincere sympathy to her family. Bonnie and Peter Cameron
