Obituary of James Oliver Penny

MAY 16 1963 - MAY 1 2021 Passed peacefully away at his home with his partner by his side. Jim was born originally from Marystown Newfoundland.

Jim and Yvonne Hayes his partner made Halifax Nova Scotia their home in 1990. Jim was known as a hard working man; Jim worked with the Halifax Bridge Commission for 12 years , then turn his hand to a plumper into the construction trade. Jim was just an all around handyman, but one thing for sure he was no mechanic but he sure could fix a busted pipe or furnace. Jim was a honest and caring man, love to joke around and play with the grand kids, and if he was feeling down or something was bothering you that’s when he was there to help you back up and if you were to ask anyone they would say Jim was a great guy and a good friend and if you needed help in any shape or form he was there no question ask, he was alway there with a helping hand; If anyone was looking for Jim and for anyone that knew him always knew where Jim could always be found at watering hole (as he would call it). The Legion 152 was where you could find him, Jim has been a long standing member for 20+ years and there is where you would also find him helping out with any occasion that was put forth, volunteering his time or to sit and have a yarn with a beer. Jim love to play darts, cards, and pool, and if you were to ask him what’s the most important thing in his life he would say Yvonne “Bonnie”, his one and only, she was a major part of his life. Jim and Yvonne are very Thankful for all the love, help and support from the Martell’s through the years as they made Nova Scotia there home. Jim will be forever missed by his family and a large circle of friends, Aunt’s, Uncle’s, nieces & nephew.

Leaving to morn: Yvonne Hayes partner of 36 years, Tina Rogers(Kevin) - Renee Inkpen (Chris) and Taylor, David Inkpen and Sebastian, Curtis Inkpen ( Brittany) Ayden and Baby (boy) to be, Rodney Tibbo (Laura), Donald Martell (Morgan), Rodney JR., Elizabeth Tibbo - Antonia Tibbo - William (Grampies little man), Jamie-lee Tibbo (Ronald) – Noah, Jasmine Tibbo (Grampies little angel), Jim’s (baby sister) Audrey Penny - Marie and Morgan, Archie Penny (Louise) – Natasha.

Arrangements are under the care place of J. Albert Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. By the family request there will be no visitation. Interment to take place at a later date.
