I have known Robert for close to five years. I knew him well. We spoke at least once a week for the last two years and we visited in person so many times I knew every corner of his apartment. Robert took a deep interest in people, matters of faith and wanted to make a difference in our world. He attended Bethany United Church, joined the church, and attended all of our programs. Everyone knew Robert and appreciated his presence, questions and care. We will miss him. Later, when he was not feeling well in the mornings he attended services at the other church I serve, Brunswick Street United, a small intimate gathering on Sunday nights. There Robert would share in our circle his thoughts, hopes and dreams. Robert would often quote Matthew 25, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.’ Robert deeply cared for people and people deeply cared for him.
