I was very sorry to see Darlene's recent obituary. I did not know Darlene well but as Returning Officer, had the pleasure of working with her during the past federal election as she was the main point of contact for the polling site at Cathedral Church of All Saints. She was professional and a pleasure to work with. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends at this sad time. Bonnie Boyd-Read

My dear JR & family I was saddened to learn of the death of your mom; while I didn't know Darlene very well when she worked at Saint Mary's, I do know how highly she was thought of, as a co-worker and passionate union leader. I always enjoy hearing stories from JR about the honey-do list "mum" had for the boys (renovating her home, the cottage, the plans and stories of their trips) but mostly of the fun times she and the family enjoyed at the cottage. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time; may the memories of your mom sustain you during the difficult days and months ahead! Much love, Bernie

Darlene and mike were very important to me over the years. Mike was my best friend for over 38 years, and darlene was a dear friend for many years. She always had a place at her kitchen table and a warm bed when I visited from Nb. I remember the year I got separated from my wife and was looking like Christmas was going to be very lonely. Darlene invited me to their home for Christmas. She said “your not spending Christmas alone. “ she was one of the most kind ladies I ever me. Besides the fact, she had to put up with mike and I at our occasional get togethers. She was a saint. Rest Darlene. It’s well deserved. Say hi to mike for me. Miss him like crazy.

So very sorry for the loss of your dear Mother. Many great memories of our years at the co OP on Withrod. Emily was barely walking. J.R just a boy helping Dad with all the gatherings in their yard. Darlene was the planner to see all of us gathered for games, music and cold ones then onto catching up at union events! RIP
