Obituary of David Robert Conway
57, White’s Lake, NS, passed away after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, December 8, 2018, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in Halifax on August 8, 1961.
Throughout his life, Dave had worked as a firefighter with DND, and later as a custodian at Atlantic Memorial Elementary School. Dave was a family man; his family always came first. His girls and their families were the apple of his eye. He was a loving, caring gentleman with a great sense of humour, right up until the end. He loved spending time at the cottage, and in his former years, camping and hunting, a sport his daughter, Alicia now enjoys because of him. He was a proud and simple man who would help anyone with anything.
Dave is survived by his childhood sweetheart, whom he met 42 years ago, and celebrated 37 years of marriage with last August, Donna (Rogers), and his beloved daughters, Alicia MacDonald (David), and Michelle Ubsdell (David). Papa will be forever remembered by his treasured grandchildren, Patrick (Maddy), Candace, Hanna, and James. He is also survived by his parents, Bob and Venita (Power) Conway; brothers, Steven (Kim), and Mark; nephews, Scott, Christopher, and Trevor; niece, Michaela; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald and Margie Rogers; sister-in-law, Nancy, as well as cousins and many friends. He will be sadly missed by the cats, Lily and Meeko. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Gus and Marie Conway, and maternal grandparents, Alfred and Dorothy Power.
Dave’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to VON, doctors and nurses at 8.2 Halifax Infirmary, Cindy at Closing the Gap, the nurses at Bayshore, and especially to Dr. Jon Gale and Dr. Danny Rayson and his team, and the many family and friends for all the care and support.
Cremation has taken place under the care of J. A. Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. A memorial Mass will be celebrated in memory of Dave on Friday, December 14th, 2018 at 11AM, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Shad Bay, NS. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the IWK Heath Centre.
