Obituary of Ruth Mae Fisher
88, Spryfield. Daughter of the late Winnie and Bill Smith. Mom passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2018 and is now with the love of her life. A part of her died 6 years ago when dad passed. Mom loved to bake and always had brown bread, squares and chocolate balls ready to be eaten whenever someone came to visit. Mom volunteered with dad for over 20 years at the N.S. Eye Care Centre and was an active member of UCW at St. Paul’s United Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie (Craig); son, Lloyd (Sherri); grandchildren, Todd (Amanda), Joey (Sarah), Angela (Kenneth), Chantel (Kale), Jeanette and Adam; great grandchildren, Ella and Liam; brother, Reggie (Julie) Smith and family; brothers and sisters in-law, Margie, Jean and Bob, Charlotte and Robert, Karen and Denvert, Juanita and Jim, Lee, Mary Anne and Gerald; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Franklyn; grandson, Brandon in infancy; brothers and sisters in-law.
Thank you to friends, relatives and neighbors who helped mom and also to the QEII staff on 7.1 and 8.3 – you were amazing.
Arrangements are under the care of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, where visitation will be held on Monday, November 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 20 at 2 PM in St. Paul’s United Church, 173 Old Sambro Road, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s United Church.
