Obituary of Linda M. Kline (Merson) (Betts)

Kline, Linda Marie (nee Merson) (Betts):  63, Halifax, passed away on November 24, 2017 following a brief and courageous battle with cancer at the New Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, NS.  Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Cyril and Loretta "Pearl" (Webber) Merson.  Throughout her life, Linda was employed with the Nova Scotia Teachers Union, where she worked as a valuable and lifelong employee, having retired following 35 years of service.  She worked there in numerous secretarial capacities and departments including special associations.  Affectionately, known as Nanny, she dedicated her life to her special relationship with her only grandson and apple-of-her-eye, Adam Jr.  He was her world.  Linda loved her cats and she will be sadly missed by her fur-baby, Jasper.  She is survived by her only daughter, Andrea Betts, Halifax, her grandson, Adam Marsh Jr., and his father, Adam Marsh Sr., brother, Bob Merson (Joan), Lower Sackville, NS, sisters, Pat McGarry, Halifax, NS and Betty Cochrane, Lower Sackville, NS, a special great-aunt, Mert Eikle, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and former colleagues.  She was predeceased by her parents.  The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and nursing staff of 7.4 Palliative Care Team, QEII, for all the care and support given to Linda.  Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Halifax, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 10- 11 AM, followed by a service at 11 AM from the chapel with Rev. Russell Saulnier as clergy.  A reception will follow.  Interment will take place Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville, NS.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s memory may be made to the Halifax Cat Rescue Society at www.catsinhalifax.ca.  Words of comfort may be sent to the family by visiting www.walkerfh.com
