Obituary of Donald Joseph "Don" Jeffrey
Passed away suddenly on July 31st, 2017. He was born in Halifax and raised his family in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia.
Don was best known as an artist, entrepreneur and creative thinker. He started his career as an architect for Simpson- Sears, designing and developing new builds, renovations and expansions. Don combined his passion for art and business and built two commercial art firms: Idea Man Signs and Don Jeffrey Signs. His logos, graphic art, signs, large scale architectural renderings and vehicle commercial work can still be found throughout Lower Sackville and the greater Halifax area. After retiring, Don enjoyed painting every day and created many beautiful works of art along with posters and signs for family and friends.
Don is survived by his three children: daughters, Christine Baker (Gary Roberts) of Hamilton, ON; Genevieve Brassard (Rick Pihlainen) of Burlington, ON; and son, Ted Jeffrey (Mickey) of Windsor Junction, NS; grandchildren: Cynthia, Cassandra, Desiree, Samantha, Jocelyn and Shannon; brothers, Andrew (Loretta) of Halifax; Clarence (Simone) of Shediac, NB and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Ida and father, Alfred and by his brother Davis.
By request, there will be no service. A visitation / memorial gathering will be held in his honour at J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. 149 Herring Cove Rd. on Sunday, August 13 1:00 -4:00p.m. Don has generously donated his body to the Medical Sciences program at Dalhousie University. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to The Arthritis Society – Nova Scotia Division or a charity of your choice.
Don will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
