Obituary of Joseph Bernard McDonald
Age 76, Halifax. It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband and father on April 10, 2017 at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Peter and Sophia (Bruce) McDonald.
Dad was an active member of St. Michael’s Parish for 40 years, serving in many ministries which gave him such great joy. Dad’s labor of love for many years was making rosary prayer beads for anyone who needed, many of which have made their way around the world. As director of Mary, Mother Of CARMEL Lay Carmelite Community. He volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul and served as Eucharist minister. Of all the accomplishments of his life, his family was truly his greatest blessing. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with those he cherished. He has left his legacy of love with all of us. Dad was a lobster fisherman for many years and then went back to school to earn his radio operator ticket, finishing his career with Bedford Institute of Oceanography. For all who met him and experienced his humility and great compassion, knew that his most precious gift was love.
